Our magazine debut

On a typically grey and cold day in January, a team of photographers, videographers, social media designers, copy writers and business leaders swooped into our little clinic to clean up, set up, and capture it in all it’s glory. Sounds weird - why would someone be taking photos of the clinic? We’re here to look after animals, not to be in a coffee table book about design. I agree with part of that - we shouldn’t be in a book about design… but a coffee table book about Arrowleaf Veterinary? I wouldn’t mind….

The team showed up to help us get ready for our Photoshoot (and video interview!) for the Patterson Today article that was going to be written about us. Patterson is a company that supplies veterinary clinics with just about anything they need, bar the actual humans to staff it. Patrick is the territory manager for our area, and he was a big part of Dr. Johnson’s journey in realizing her dream of having her own practice. After letting us know that he’d submitted us as a potential clinic for this magazine article, it was really exciting when he came in to tell us we had been chosen, and would be in the magazine!

The day they were here was a normal day as far as appointments go, but there were a lot of lights on stands with umbrellas, people with camera’s, clicking noises as the shutter release buttons were pressed, quiet voices talking in the background and definitely a lot more staff members with freshly washed hair and mascara on. Is this what it feels like to be on a sitcom? It was a novel experience, kind of exciting and kind of exhausting. It felt like there was a long build up to it, thankfully the day went smoothly and before we realized it was time to say goodbye to our camera crew. 3 months later, we have the results. The hardcopy magazines are now in our lobby, and some stashed away safely to hold on to as memories.

Would we do it again? Yes, absolutely. So if you want us to be in your magazine, let me know! If you would like a copy of the magazine, come grab one! At your next party, your next dog walk, or next grocery trip, feel free to name drop…a lot. Is Arrowleaf Veterinary your Vet? We’re basically celebrities, you might as well let the world know. Word of mouth and personal recommendations are immeasurably important for us as a new business.

The overall takeaway from this whole thing is that almost a year ago, this building wasn’t anything in particular. Today, it is a beautiful new veterinary practice that perfectly reflects the area and community it serves. All it took was a dream, a team, and a lot of courage to start it.
